31DC2014 - Delicate Print: Recreation of Liza's Kimono Inspired Mani

I had a pleasure of doing a mani swap with lovely and super talented Liza @ldnailsxo over at Instagram. I got to know Liza not long after I opened my IG account in May, and while all her manis are super gorgeous, there was particularly one mani that struck me with awe. When she suggested doing a mani swap, I knew this mani had to be the one I would recreate.

For this mani, I started off with Sinful Colors Rich in Heart then stamped a floral pattern from MoYou London Suki 07 with gold chrome. Then I stamped a different flower on top of it with Mundo de Uñas White. I painted the tips in white and stamped a kimono belt pattern from the same plate.

Pointer and pinkie were painted first with Essie Showstopper and I stamped a pattern from dragon body. Then I painted white vertically and stamped kimono belt pattern again.

This was one of the most difficult manis I have ever created. The main reason is that the parts Liza used from this Suki plate are super skinny, meaning you need a very precise placement on your nails. I was silly enough to think that I could recreate her awesome mani, but I WAS WRONG! Although I'm happy with the result, I can't help feeling awed by her amazing skills!

今日は何度目かのMani Swapネイルのご紹介です。今回のお相手はLiza @ldnailsxo。Lizaと知り合ったのは５月のMoYouコンテスト中のことで、彼女のアカウントにアップされた素敵なネイルアートの数々を見て衝撃を受けたのを覚えています。その中でも特に忘れられないネイルが１つありました。Lizaと親しくなってMani Swapやろうという話をもらったときに絶対にやると決めたネイル。それがこちら。

親指、中指、薬指のベースはSinful Colors Rich in Heart。MoYou London Suki 07から花柄をゴールドでスタンプ。その上からさらにMundo de Uñas Whiteで別の花柄をスタンプ。爪先だけ白を塗って同じプレートの着物の帯の柄をスタンプ。

人差し指と小指はまずEssie Showstopperを塗り、龍の細い体の部分の柄をゴールドでスタンプ。その後爪の1/3ほどを縦に白で塗り、同じく着物の帯の柄をスタンプ。Lizaの元の作品とのコラージュがこちら。

Lizaの作品は博物館に所蔵したいぐらいの一級芸術品。これはやってみて実感しました。詳しくは後で説明します。

The parts in red are the patterns I used. See what I mean about them being skinny? The kimono belt is only 0.3~0.5mm in height and that's what I used for all my nails!

このネイル、自分史上最高レベルに難しかったです。なぜかはプレートを見ていただくと分かると思います。赤で囲んだ部分が今回使った箇所。柄がものすごく細いんです。特に着物の帯の部分なんかは一番高い部分が縦５ｍｍしかなく、しかも端に行くに従って短くなっていっています。これを人差し指と小指に載せるときの苦労と言ったら・・・（汗。

Lizaのネイルを見ると人差し指と小指の半分がこの柄になっていますが、相当うまくないとそんな芸当ムリです。私には無理・・・orz しかももう半分が龍の細い体のちょっとした部分を使っているんです、これがまた。この着物の帯も龍の体も、私から見たら「捨て柄」＝使わない部分です。ここを使おうと思ったLizaに感服です。

それを踏まえてもう一度私のネイルをどうぞ。私は自分のネイルをけなすのは好きではありません。自分が生み出した世界にたった１つの作品だし自分の子供のように可愛いです。でもね、今回ばかりは元の作品の完成度が高すぎて粗が見えてしょうがないです・・。

中指と薬指のベースに使ったのがこのSinful Colors Rich in Heart。Lizaは黒サテンを使ったと書いていましたが、写真で見た限りやや茶色っぽかったのでこちらにしました。

I would never have thought of using those kimono belt pattern and skinny dragon body part. Would you use them?

１つだけ救いなのは写真で見るより実際の方が数段ましなこと。写真だと表現しきれない全体の感じとか、結構好きです。

一応写真撮り終えた後にマットにしてみました。まぁどっちも同じようなものかな。ダブルの花柄がちょっと同化しちゃいました。

そんなわけでLizaとのMani Swapでした。私にとっては念願かなってのこのネイルの再現でしたが、自分の力量を思い知らされるとともに、Lizaの技術の高さに非常に感服しました。もっと頑張らねば！と思わせてくれるネイルでした。
